Mixed Media Landscape
The Alaskan Landscape speaks for itself. My work emerges through responding to the places, light, weather, and quiet moments that continually draw my attention. Through painting, photography, ink, gouache, and mixed media, I explore the atmosphere and character of both wilderness and urban environments.
Digital photography allows me to capture fleeting moments of rain and reflected light across Lake Otis, pollinator activity within urban habitat projects, or shifting coastal weather along drives to Beluga Point and Homer. In other works, ink, gouache, and layered materials respond to forest branches, winter mornings, and the subtle presence of birds moving through the landscape.
Certain places continue to inspire repeated observation, including bishop's Beach, Ninilchik Russian Orthodox Church, and the expansive coastal environments of Alaska. These works are created through both curiosity and affection; a desire to remain connected to the beauty of atmosphere, and living presence found within the landscape like chickadees on cold winter morning.
