Urban Habitat for Pollinators - Portland, OR
The artistic process behind Jannah Atkins’ work is rooted in observation, material exploration, and direct engagement with the natural world. Walking through forests, wetlands, urban spaces, and pollinator habitats becomes part of the research process—gathering visual, ecological, and emotional fragments that later emerge within the work.

Drawing, construction, layering, and experimentation function together as interconnected methods of inquiry. Through shifting approaches that include painting, assemblage, sculpture, and mixed media, materials are transformed and recontextualized to reflect ideas of memory, ecology, energy, and transformation.

The studio becomes a space where observation and intuition intersect—allowing materials, surfaces, and symbolic forms to evolve through process, repetition, and response.
