Studio Expectations

Art Kids Studio is a creative learning environment built on respect, safety, focus, and encouragement. These expectations help every student feel supported while developing confidence, skill, and creative independence.

Respect for Others, Self, and Property

Every student has the right to learn in a positive studio environment without disruption. Students are expected to respect the instructor, classmates, materials, artwork, and studio space.

Respect includes listening while the instructor is speaking, caring for shared supplies, using kind language, and honoring each student’s creative process. Making fun of others or their artwork is not acceptable.

Be Prepared, Productive, and Positive

Students are encouraged to come to class ready to learn, participate, and try new ideas. A positive attitude helps students build confidence, take creative risks, and stay engaged throughout the class.

Studio Safety

Students are expected to use art materials, tools, and equipment safely at all times. Safety instructions must be followed carefully so everyone can work comfortably and confidently in the studio.

Interesting and Engaging Lessons

Art Kids Studio is committed to providing thoughtful, stimulating lessons that help students grow as young artists. New projects, materials, and creative approaches are introduced regularly to keep the curriculum fresh and inspiring.

As a practicing artist, I continually explore new ideas and techniques in my own studio practice and bring that creative energy into the classroom.

Classroom Environment

The studio is kept clean, organized, and uncluttered to provide a safe and productive place to work. Students are expected to help clean up before leaving class, including putting away supplies, cleaning palettes and water containers, and helping with floors or tables when needed.

Friendly conversation is welcome when appropriate, but students are expected to stay focused on their artwork. Cell phone use is discouraged during class so students can remain present and engaged.

Behavior and Communication

Feedback is an important part of growth. When needed, student progress or concerns may be discussed with parents to support learning, participation, and studio success.

Constructive feedback from parents is always welcome and should be discussed privately, outside of class time, so the studio environment remains focused and supportive for students.
